Uniform of a Panzer Grenadiers

A uniform ensemble for a captain
of the Panzer Grenadiers
Visor cap of field grey gabardine with dark green cap band, meadow green piping and aluminium insignia. Golden yellow silk liner with stamped manufacturer's label (hardly discernible) "Offizierskleiderkasse Berlin - Erel Sonderklasse Extra", visor and sweatband of ersatz material, small moth hole. Decorated tunic of field grey gabardine with dark green collars and meadow green piping on fly and sleeve facings. Silver-embroidered eagle and collar tabs on meadow green backing, sewn-in shoulder boards, silvered cording. Attached Iron Cross 1st Class of 1939, Tank Assault Badge in Bronze, Wound Badge in Black. Field belt with aluminium buckle, complete with counter-catch and both slides. Signs of oxidation.
A rare ensemble given that the meadow green colour was only issued with clothing items like overcoats and field tunics for a short period early in the war. Many veteran soldiers retained these original colours by re-dying their uniform piping.
