Has about 99% of its original gold with a ivory(colored) grip. Grip has only slight age. Push button is present. Blade is engraved. Maker marked as well. A true piece of exotica.

Early SS silver lion head sword

早期 SS 軍官用銀色禮劍. 其造型與陸軍相似.
RARE Early SS Silver Lion Head Sword w/Original Felt Storage Bag. WKC, knight's head TM. A color photograph of this superbly detailed silver sword hilt appears on page 204 of Collecting The Edged Weapons of The Third Reich Volume I. Prior to the introduction of the standard 1936 pattern SS sword, members of the SS were authorized to carry an Army pattern sword as pictured on page 44, left as well as the back cover of Wearing The Edged Weapons of The Third Reich Volume II. Silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear to the highlights with much factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the superbly detailed, cast lion head pommel with red glass eyes, backstrap with floral motif, raised oak leaf embellished knuckle-bow, ferrule and crossguard with hand enhanced open wing eagle and lion head quillon. Black celluloid grip shows minor surface wear with no cracks or chips and with triple twisted silver wire wrap present. Plain, plated blade measuring 34 1/8" in length grades EX/EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks with surface scuffing to the lower obverse/reverse and several minor nicks to cutting edge. Blade is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 90% of the period repainted black enamel showing light surface wear/crazing and missing paint primarily to obverse/reverse lower shell and drag. Sword is complete with original rust/orange felt storage bag in EX+ condition showing minor surface with minor mothing and two cuts to the fabric on the upper reverse.
