A kettle drum banner

A kettle drum banner of the Infantry Regiment 80 in form of five adjoining shield-shaped fields. Alternating black and white silk (minor age tears) with silver lace edging and silver fringes (worn) with pendant tassels. The central field shows the city coat of arms of Koblenz, each flanking field bears a silver-embroidered national eagle above the regimental designation. Yellow lining on the back with linen bag for the fastening strap. Dimensions ca. 160 x 40 cm. The IR 80 was established in 1936 at Koblenz and was subordinated to the 34 Infantry Division. Engagements in Luxembourg, Belgium and France, restructured after massive losses in Russia in November 1941. In October 1942 renamed in Grenadier-Regiment 80.
